Coral Nymph Salvia

This is a new plant in my flower bed. I was browsing the clearance plants at Harb's Oasis and I came across this salvia. I'm a huge fan of salvias, but I've never planted this particular one, so I wanted to give it a try.

I bought the Coral Nymph salvia (Salvia coccinea)a few months ago. It has done great! It blooms constantly and the Louisiana heat doesn't bother it one bit. I'm going to get several more of these salvias in the spring. They are such a great plant!

  1. Wow! I have forgotten about this one! Thanks for posting tis.

Yes, I've grown it here in Houston and it was terrific.
Do you know if it comes back from a freeze?
Mine died out for some reason, but I'll get some next season.

I love the color. It looks great with crimson salvias.

  2. I'm not sure if it comes back, but I think it will reseed. I haven't been dead heading in hopes that it will drop lots of seeds and come back next spring from seeds.

  3. It will indeed reseed ... prolifically, in fact! There are some gardeners who consider Coral a nuisance. There's also a white variety called Snow Nymph.
